Name: James Key (Jakey)
When did you join #TeamRoundheads? 06/11/18
Did you have any experience playing rugby before? And what attracted you to rugby?
Never played or even watched rugby in my life, I have family who are all very into it but it wasn’t something that appealed to me until I saw there was an inclusive team open for players of all abilities and physical attributes
Why do you think there is a need for Inclusive Rugby? Why wouldn’t there be a need for it?
If there are people who want to play rugby that don’t fit the typical criteria for the game then their is a “gap in the market”
What have you enjoyed the most about being a Roundhead and what is your favourite memory so far?
Only done one training session so far and the best thing about being a Roundhead so far for me is how friendly everyone has been! I had some misconceptions about how I would be received as “a new guy” and I couldn’t have been more wrong.
What does being part of the Roundheads mean to you?
Being a Roundhead for me so far has boosted my self esteem, my own self worth and its giving me a reason to get out and meet new people.
Finally, to anyone reading this who is thinking of joining with experience or no experience playing rugby, but who haven’t yet decided to #ruckwithus, what would you say to them?
If you think you want to give it a go but aren’t sure, just give it a try, don’t let yourself talk yourself out of something that could be one of the best things you do in a while. What’s the harm in trying…. You’ve come this far already if your intrigued, may as well take that one small step and give it a try.
